HOW TO FILE A RERA COMPLAINT IN INDIA
Buying a home is a major investment, but issues like delayed possession, non-refund, defective construction, or violation of the builder-buyer agreement can create serious difficulties. RERA provides a legal mechanism for homebuyers to seek appropriate relief.

STEPS TO FILE A RERA COMPLAINT
1. Collect Documents
Keep the Builder-Buyer Agreement, allotment letter, payment receipts, correspondence, and other relevant documents ready.
2. Identify the Correct Authority
A complaint should generally be filed before the RERA Authority of the State/UT where the project is situated.
3. File the Complaint Online
Visit the concerned State RERA portal, register/login, select the complaint option, and enter the required details of the complainant, project and promoter.
4. State Your Grievance Clearly
Explain the violation briefly and clearly mention the relief sought, such as refund, interest, compensation, possession, or any other appropriate relief.
5. Upload Documents & Pay the Fee
Upload the supporting documents and pay the prescribed complaint fee through the portal.
6. Attend the Proceedings
After filing, notice is issued to the promoter. Both parties get an opportunity to present their case before the Authority.
